A big THANK YOU to everyone who e-mailed
me your thoughts about renaming files to avoid account
deletion-- most people said they don't mind, as long as it's
a simple renaming process that doesn't require additional
programs. Now maybe my site will last longer once it re-opens
:)
To reward those who are patiently
awaiting the re-opening of this site, here's a special
"teaser" for ya: Earthrise (990KB), an
oldie but goodie from Interstel. This is a well-designed
graphical adventure in the style of Sierra's old AGI
adventures (Police Quest 1, Space Quest 1, etc). The parser
is quite good, and the plot is interesting albeit a little
overwrought (saving the earth from asteroid impact). What I
don't like about this game is the time constraint-- since the
game is quite long restoring becomes almost necessary in the
final stages of the game. By the way, the game is designed by
Matt Gruson, a severely underrated (and unknown) designer who
went on to design adventure games for Microprose (Rex
Nebular, Dragonsphere, Return of Phantom).
You might be wondering why I didn't add
this to the adventure page--- the page is now chock full of
new games, the description for which I've finished for a
while (months ago, over Christmas)... I just need free time
(and new space) to upload them :) Their identities will
remain secret for now, but rest assured that I have enough
games up my sleeve that you've never heard of before
<EG>
In the meantime, please visit the
following wonderful "abandonware" sites that
sprouted up in my absence, dedicated to the same cause:
Cascade
Abandonware - great collection and thoughtful
descriptions besides :)
Superultra
Classics - a real "labor of love"
page-- and some rare games you won't find elsewhere
Lugum's
Homepage - okay, it may not look professional,
but he DOES have many great adventure classics :)

Welcome! This homepage
is a tribute to the "underdogs" of the PC computer
gaming world-- they are, in my opinion, great games that for
some reason never got the public or commercial acclaim they
deserve. Most of these games are *old*, which just goes to
show how much more important gameplay is than flashy
graphics. No best-sellers here, just the rare gems that I
hope more people will discover.
There are short
descriptions for each game on this list. In some cases, you
can find walkthroughs and even the games themselves if they
are no longer commercially available! (Please read the Disclaimer below before
downloading) In
other cases, links to stores that still sell the games are
listed.
From here, you can:
- Go to the Games,
in alphabetical order: (Newest additions are
marked with)
Note:
If you want to download anything, make sure you've
got WinZip, WinRar, and DEARJ programs, since the
archives are in either .zip, .rar., or .arj format.
